While it was a very hard decision to make, focusing on Eddie’s health is the most important thing to the family at the moment. The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.
Eddie Money recently revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.
A reality television series about Money and his family, “Real Money,” had aired on AXS TV starting in April 2018. It chronicled his life at home, on the road and with his family, as well as his health struggles.

Eddie Money’s Cause of Death Revealed:
The music world by surprise after only recently announcing his esophageal cancer diagnosis, but sadly, it wasn’t cancer that ended his life.
A representative from Money’s camp confirmed to People that the cause of death was from complications from his recent heart valve replacement surgery. His heart surgery was unrelated to his cancer diagnosis. He contracted pneumonia shortly after heart valve surgery. When Money contracted pneumonia, this put a hold on his cancer treatment for about three months. Though, his cancer did not worsen, it was the pneumonia that got him following his heart valve replacement surgery.
Money is survived by his wife Laurie and five children, daughter Jesse Money, and sons Zachary, Joseph, Desmond and Julian.
